I remember last new year when Kevin told me the news that you felt bad. The rope snapped the first time; sent you spiraling down. Mother caught you next, wide-eyed and broken-hearted.
I don't want to be next, but I can't help it.

Regrets climbed up
Into your chest
Mingled with words yet to be said
Purity swept away
Three weeks left to wait
The sin has been done
Switch hands, come clean (please)
(Switch hands, come clean)
I see him in your eyes

There are places I'll never go
There are people I'll never meet
There are things that I'll never be
And my God, it's killing me

I had a dream last night that I was about to die, and there was nothing I could do to stop it; a sharp decent down a cliff that stretched on for miles, to the deepest of seas.
I looked up the precipice to see all my friends fade out of view, apathetic stares on all their faces.
A calm fell on the world, a sudden release that said everything would be fine. The water loomed nearer, and I closed my eyes, now at peace with my imminent demise.
But the surface came, and there was no water; there was nothing at all. I careened through the blue nothing for centuries, or so it seemed, completely content with the fact that I was now completely alone.
Until the blue turned black, and I jolted awake to the same room from yesterday.
And a look at the clock told me I was late again.

It's beautiful down by the trees; can we stay here for awhile? What have we got to go home to? Too early to turn in. Let's dance through all of the leaves and forget what goes beyond us; for now we are the world. Everyone needs to bow down. Run with me now, let's go deep into the wood. They won't think to look out here; we're finally by ourselves. Let's hum a pleasant tune down the trail to great unknowns. Hold my hand, don't be afraid; you're not alone.
Dreaming away all our days, who cares where we go? Is there an end to the light? Who knows, who knows. Let's sail away into the clouds; the sunshine calls. I don't want to go back; we're too far gone.
Let's take a break for awhile and look at the sky, and watch the planes all fly away to places we don't know. Let's lay down in the tall grass that springs up all around; let's sit real close now and ponder what life means. Close your eyes, let's imagine we're in a different place, that we don't need anyone else delegating our entity. Let's get up and continue, our journey's just begun; are we ever really done? Let's keep pushing on and on.
Dreaming away all our days, still don't know where we'll go. No sense in making any plans if we don't go home. I see a place up in the clouds that's calling your name. Let's fly off into the sky and forget everything.
